How to avoid weight gain:
Focus on maintaining your weight instead of losing weight during the Holidays.
Do not gorge on any special holiday food that is available once a year.
Do not deprive yourself of anything you want to taste. Just take a bite.
Do not think that you can eat whatever you want because you can start
dieting in the New Year. It will be harder to lose weight.
- Drink little alcohol as too much can cause less inhibition. Rather drink water and low calorie drinks.
- Keep hands busy, keep a glass on one hand and a purse on the other.
- After you have eaten, stay away from the food tables.
- Forget the old traditional foods you used in the past. Substitute with healthier foods or activities.
- Keep a diet diary and weigh yourself. Do not use baggy clothes.
- Keep exercise routine. Exercise helps with stress.
- Bring a dish that you can eat like salad, fruit, vegetables and healthy dip.
- Use your conversational skills and meet new people to distract you.
- Plan ahead. Buy healthy food and plan what you will eat.
- Do not go to a party hungry! Have a light snack before you leave
- the house. You still need to leave some room for eating.Beware of saboteurs! Do not let people talk you into eating high calorie items or drinking more than you have planned. Allowed drinking is 1 glass/day for woman and 2 glasses/day for a man.Distract yourself with pleasurable activities. Do not stress.
Just have fun. Treat yourself with a massage , hair, mani-pedi etc…
