Diets rich in anti-oxidants and healthy fats are good for the skin. Low fat or skim milk but not full fat milk is positively associated with acne. A stronger association exists between high glycemic index diets and acne severity. Patients who followed a low glycemic diet experienced a decrease in acne lesions as compared wit parents who followed a high glycemic diets In addition those who consumed a low glycemic diet had clearer skin, less clogged pores and a healthier skin in general. Excess sugar consumption results in glycation of proteins such  as collagen and elastin, leaving these molecules stiff and ineffective. Eliminating dairy, heavily processed and sugary foods is important for acne sufferers. However it may take 12 weeks to se the results.  Good fats like walnuts, avocado and salmon maintain healthy skin. It is also important to eat a variety of fruit, vegetables and nuts. Charring food through grilling or roasting at high temperatures can produce ageing of the skin.  One should limit sugars to 6 teaspoons a day. Probiotics are great for acne, rosacea and for skin in general.Vitamin D , zinc and omega 3 fatty acids can help acne as well. Oral Polypodium leucotomos is beneficial for  atopic dermatitis, vitiligo and psoriasis and for prevention of sunburn and squamous cell carcinoma.
